This digital illustration by local artist Stephen Millership shows a dramatically sunlit Manchester Library and Town Hall extension. In the foreground, silhouetted commuters make their way across St. Peter’s square towards the walkway which leads on to St Ann's Square.

In his trademark graphic style, Millership perfectly captures the impressive curved facade of the Central Library and the powerful rectangular forms of the Town Hall extension.

Inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, the Central Library is a stunning example of neo-classical architecture. The ornate Gothic Revival Manchester Town Hall extension was built as a link between the library and Town Hall and was opened by King George VI in 1938. Both buildings were awarded grade II* listed status on 3 October 1974.

Stephen Millership is a Manchester based artist influenced by the golden age of travel posters, with a modern day twist. Millership has created many illustrations of some of the most loved areas and landmarks of Manchester and its surroundings.
