‘Bikes and Brollys’ depicts a typically rainy Manchester scene. Viewed from Oxford Road, looking down towards Deansgate, the grand curved walls of the Central Library can be seen to the right of the image as pedestrians pass by, brollys up, doing their best to shelter from the rain.

The reflections from nearby traffic lights create a beautiful dappling effect across the road’s wet surface which Connell masterfully captures through her impressionistic brushwork.

Connell describes her artwork as focusing on light, atmosphere and colour. Through her work, she captures many of Manchester's most iconic scenes and landmarks.
