‘Moon River’ by local artist Sarah Connel shows a romantic moonlit view along a stretch of one of Manchester’s many canal routes. The beautiful violet hue of the sky is reflected in the water below which flows towards an arched white bridge in the distance.


Canals were at the heart of the development of industrial Manchester as they enabled coal and raw materials to be carried right to the heart of the city and finished goods to be transported away easily.


Sarah Connell is a Manchester based artist who describes her artwork as focusing on light, atmosphere and colour. Through her work, she captures many of Manchester's most iconic scenes and landmarks.
