This charming llustration by Stockport born and based artist Lucy burgess, celebrates one of Stockports most important historical buildings and surrounding grounds; Bramhall Hall and Bramhall Park.

Bramhall Park is a magnificent park of woodland and trails, a beautifully landscaped green space ideal for an afternoon stroll. It sits in the grounds of Bramall Hall, a superb example of a Tudor Manor House with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. It is a Grade I Listed Building and a notable example of the timber-framed buildings found throughout the historic county of Cheshire.

The park is home to a variety of wildlife. Its woodland and lakes provide an excellent environment for habitats to develop. The landscaping of the park began in the 1890s, when the ponds were made.

Lucy Burgess’ work reflects on her own personal memories of her hometown, she explains ‘I truly believe art should make you think, feel and reminisce - it doesn't have to match the couch as the old saying goes. Much of my work plays on the memories I share with many communities across Stockport; which marked the start of an exciting future for me and my art.’

Burgess has exhibited in Stockport Art Gallery, The Arc Centre, and she had her first solo exhibition in The Room at The Top in 2015. Her work is available in the town's popular tourist attractions: Staircase House, the Hat Works and the Air raid shelters  as well as some great independent shops including The Warren.
